I joined the Mott Hall III staff eight years ago after teaching social studies in the Boston area, and since then I have found a home among my Mott Hall III family. Originally from Egremont, Massachusetts, I studied history and earned my bachelor’s degree from Boston University before getting my Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Massachusetts – Boston. Deciding to leave Beantown for the bright lights and unparalleled diversity in NYC, I joined Mott Hall III and have taught sixth grade social studies and ELA throughout my time here.
Here at our school, you can find me prepping my students for debate in the Mock Trial club, collaborating with students to plan school-wide incentives with the PBIS committee, making teachers smile as president of the Sunshine Committee, planning our school’s entire advisory curriculum, organizing our annual school-wide Spelling Bee, and eliciting numerous donations to make our school a better place. One such donation involved a set of alarm clocks for chronically late students! I am happy that students flock to my room to spend their extra time working in a quiet space or assisting me with tasks.
Outside of school, I enjoy taking my beloved dog Sweetie on adventures with my husband Luis. I am also a world traveler and in particular, I have traveled back and forth to Costa Rica every year since 2011! During the summers, I often travel back home to Massachusetts, as well as up to Maine.
